Hunter S. Jones.

Hello! This weeks interview took place with Hunter S. Jones an author with several books to her name.  Hunter was one of the first to sign up for Author of the Week but asked to wait a while for her interview to help others promote themselves! Hunter and I sat down and had a good old natter on what she's been up to and what inspired her, let's get started!  Good morning Hunter, at last, we get to have a chat! Let's start with learning a little about yourself.  An author and historian Deb Hunter writes as Hunter S. Jones. I publish independently as well as through traditional platforms. Recently I revealed that I am a Stage IV cancer warrior. I am passionate about the history of romance, science and music, a.k.a. sex, drugs and rock & roll. I am also a historian for Past Preservers Casting. When I'm not writing, talking or tweeting about kings, queens and rock stars, I'm living the dream in Atlanta, Georgia with my Scottish born husband. I've been involved in academic projects at Harvard University, The University of Texas, UCLA, Vanderbilt University, University of The South, Notre Dame, the University of Tennessee, and the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. I've also been associated with the prestigious Society of Authors founded by Lord Tennyson, Royal Historical Society, Atlanta Historical Society, American Historical Association, Organization of American Historians, Society of Civil War Historians (US), Dangerous Women Project, Romance Writers of America (PAN member), and Historical Writers Association. I am sure I am one of many wishing you the best in your battles Hunter. Keep up the good fight. What got you into writing? Writing is something I’ve always done. What books have you released so far? Quite a few! Here's a list, Once Upon Another World box set, releasing October 2020 & featuring my first new fiction in three, maybe four years: I’ll See You In My Dreams – A Time Travel Story Magic & Mystery: Tales of Tudor England Sexuality & Its Impact on History: The British Stripped Bare published by Pen and Sword History Books, UK Fortune Calling and Fortune Brawling two fun little Rom/Com stories What’s the main thing you love and hate about writing? A great question! I love the creative swirl and the world-building, especially the characters. That’s the best part, making up a character and then setting them free. Right now, what I hate (and hate is a strong word, one which I rarely use) but, I have chemo haze. Although, writing is helping me overcome it. Plus, I have two editors-BZ Hercules & It’s Your Story Content Editing. They are incredible and I owe a great deal to their patience and abilities. It takes great strength to keep on working while battling chemo haze. You've my sincere admiration. Who is the worst villain you’ve ever written, and why? A character named Natasha, whom you will meet in my upcoming time travel story. Aw, no hints, I think Hunter is teasing us! What is next on your list to write/publish? Next is my new fiction novel I’ll See You In My Dreams, a time travel story featured in the upcoming box set Once Upon Another World which will launch October 2020. Time travel? That sounds interesting. Who encouraged you the most to write? My husband and my late mother. You said your husband was Scottish, I can imagine he's played a role in many of your books in one way or another! Are you as avid a reader as a writer? Yes What’s your favourite genre? Straight up History. That’s been my lifelong passion and one of the main reasons I have really enjoyed writing a time travel novel. I get to keep one foot in the contemporary world, and the other in the Reconstruction South of 1873. The book sounds fascinating! Do you listen to music when you write?  No, no music. I have to focus on the work without any distractions. Tell me a secret that none of your fans know!  Rescue animals are another passion, but I’m not sure that’s a secret! If it was a secret then it's out now! Tell me what your main character would say about you! She would say I have a great imagination and incredible taste in men. Finally, any words of advice? Thank you for having me! The best advice I have is don’t quit your day job! Thank you, Hunter, for talking with me today, it was fun to chat at last! I'm looking forward to reading the time travel book!
