Michelle Bollom - Author of the Month
This week I got to interview ordained minister Michelle Bollom. In addition to being an ordained minister, Michelle is kept busy as a mum and speaker. Please read on to find out more about this wonderful author.
What books have you released so far Michelle?
I have released the Prayer Scripts Series, Your Rx... which consists of 8 books, they are named Fear, Healing, Overcoming Temptation, Joy, Hope, Peace, Forgiveness, Purity,
I've also released the ABCs of Faith, Go Deeper Daily 365 Day Planner, Divine Courage and the Divine Courage Blank Journal. And I've released Truth Journaling which comes in two sizes standard & 8.5x11 and finally Heavenly Hunger.
You've been a busy bee! Tell me a little about yourself, where do you live, family, hobbies!
I am an ordained minister, speaker, author, and run a non-profit Restored Ministries, for inner healing in NW Houston, Texas. I am a mom to boy/girl twins Curran & Connor almost 21 and a wife for 24 years to Joe, my greatest cheerleader and supporter.
I have a Connor too! What got you into writing?
Always have been a writer from a very young age / I used to sneak my dad's typewriter into my room and write all sorts of poetry and short stories. I am a natural storyteller - my dad was too-so that is what fueled the writing I think.
How wonderful that you share something so personal with your dad. What’s the main thing you love and hate about writing?
Love encouraging others and telling stories, that is what I love about writing. The editing is the not so fun parts.
I don't think I've yet interviewed an author who likes editing! Who is the worst villain you’ve ever written, and why?
I write Faith-based books and share my own struggles so I am usually the Villain in what I share
What is next on your list to write/publish?
A book - “The Forgivable Sin” on shattering the shame and silence of Abortion and how to be healed and restored after Abortion.
The book will hopefully help a lot of people. It is a subject many shy away from, I admire your bravery in writing about such a delicate subject. Who is your favourite author, and why?
God - He is the greatest author I know because He is the one that gives us the gift of relaying what we need to in order to encourage and inspire others. Besides God, I have so many authors I admire - too many to list.
Who encouraged you the most to write?
Various friends and family and finally the Holy Spirit just wouldn’t let up!
Are you as avid a reader as a writer?
Oh yes - I have a book problem and a busting library! I love reading.
What’s your favourite genre?
Years ago it was mystery, true crime, true stories, poetry, self-help, but now mostly Faith-Based books are my favourite to read.
Do you listen to music when you write? If so, what type? Or can’t you stand background noise when writing?
I love all music and love listening to it - except when writing - I like it eerily quiet while writing.
You would never survive in my house! Four boys running riot here! If you could interview any famous author who would it be and why?
Jesus - I have some questions on some things in His Book.
Tell me a secret that none of your fans know!
I have Madd Kitchen Skillz! I love to create in the Kitchen - I don’t follow recipes and don’t measure anything - even in baking - I can eyeball it pretty accurately. It is relaxing to crank up the music and create something my family enjoys.
Taste-testing not needed! Tell me what your main character would say about you!
Hmmm... probably get to the point - I am a run-on sentence kinda girl and like to give all the details.
Finally, any words of advice?
To write and publish you must schedule time - keep butt to chair and keep plugging away!
Michelle thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day and having this interview with me! Your thoughts were insightful.
