The Mermaid Inn, nearly a thousand years old, is rich with history and ghosts. Its hauntings have been famous for years, but something dark lurks—an unwanted guest. Haunt and his club, the Spirit Chasers MC, have dealt with several investigations at the Mermaid Inn. However, this time he knows something nasty is lurking in the shadows, waiting to pounce.
Haunt refuses to let it gain traction but is aware this is something he’s never crossed in his fifteen years of investigation. Reaching out to Callie Dixon of Ghost Seekers Inc., Haunt asks for help. Callie wants to investigate and, without a by-your-leave, hops on a plane, dragging Sunny and a couple of GSI members with her!
The Mermaid Inn is getting worse; the building is under attack, and if they don’t discover what’s behind it, they might lose people. Haunt and Callie team up and put their brains together. They will solve this; neither of them is used to failure. When they finally realise what they face, fear settles; this type of haunting is so rare, it’s virtually unknown. An evil grows stronger every minute that passes until even the dead aren’t safe. Chillingham Castle. Those two words say it all. Allegedly the most haunted castle in England. Haunt, and the Spirit Chasers MC have been called in to record the hauntings and shut the naysayers up. But, something is wrong with his castle, and the owner wants it gone. One of the ghosts is very unhappy with the living and is making no bones about showing it.
Doors slamming, shadowy figures, bangs and moans all make for a routine haunting. Barrels rolling down a hill, an iron maiden trapping a brother, being shoved downstairs—not so regular. Something wanted to scare them, and it’s doing its best to succeed. The castle is alive and angry, and they want to know why.
Haunt is wary, especially after what happened at his last investigation. He knew there were things out there he didn’t understand, and he’d confronted one last time. Was he on for a second, terrifying hunt, or would he be able to find just what is upsetting the ghosts of Chillingham Castle? Could this be the case that makes them throw the towel in and walk away?
