Statement from the Harris family - 7th Feb 2026

We are sorry to announce that our mum, Elizabeth N. Harris, was taken very ill a few days ago. She suffered an extremely massive and violent hemiplegic migraine. For those of you who don’t know, they mimic strokes and symptoms can last up to six months.

Mum has experienced the usual symptoms – dizziness, very bad headache, light hurting her eyes, numbness down her left-hand side, nausea, confusion, brain fog and a stutter. This time she has two new symptoms.

Mum’s eyesight is blurred and she can make out shapes but not details. This makes her unable to write. She literally can't see the letters on the screen. She also has suffered a massive memory loss, she can’t remember several family members or certain life changing events that have happened. After medical advice, we’ve been told it’s too early to know if the memory loss is permanent or not. We also don’t know how her eyesight will resolve. Paramedics have ruled out a stroke.

We’re aware a great many of you care for our mum but we’re asking for time. This is a lot to be dealing with. Mum does remember being an author although some details of her books are foggy. She also remembers in great detail The Elizabeth’s Phoenix Foundation, the charity she helped create. We’re happy she remembers these as they mean a lot to her.

Mum has a book coming up and that will be released on schedule. She's left detailed information of how to proceed if something like this occurred so rest assured things are under control.

We do have several books that are unpublished (Mum had a contingency plan after her last migraine) and we have set up the pre-orders already. We just need to get them into the editor. However, we don't know if Mum will get better, she may recover completely or she may never release another book. It's too soon to tell.

In light of this, we will be doing everything we can to relieve the burden on Mum. We’ll be promoting her books and answering messages and emails for her. Please be aware, we aren’t our mum and don’t know everything.

We’re sure many of you would like to reach out, messages can be left in the comment box below but please don’t reach out on messenger. Right now, were overwhelmed. While we’re sure you’d all like to message Mum but please understand we can’t reply to everyone, as we’re struggling ourselves.

If you’d like to help Mum, then please buy her books. If there is a series you haven’t read of hers, please give it a try. Her sole income is her royalties, and this migraine is going to impact her greatly. She doesn’t need to be stressing about how to pay her bills and the people she employs.

Mum helps so many people, in so many ways, this time we’re asking you to help her. Our mum is a wonderful person, and does so much for others. Another way to help is share your favourite book of hers on social media and leave reviews, that all helps.

Doctors have also informed us, Mum will not be medically fit to travel to the book signing in the USA. We really apologise for this, but we have to cancel all plans for the signing. If you have been invoiced for your books, we will issue an immediate refund. This has also impacted on Mum as she was so looking forward to seeing everyone and was so excited. Everything was booked for her to come out to you in Arkansas. If someone knows the organisers of the event please can you let us know, it is the one thing, Mum forgot to note down and we don’t know how to contact them,
